What is Reflexology and the Benefits of Reflexology

What is Reflexology and the benefits of Reflexology

Reflexology is the application of pressure, stretch and movement to the hands, feet and occasionally, the ears.

Reflexology applied to the feet directly stimulates the peripheral nervous system (the part of our nervous system consisting of nerves and neurons.)

When stimulated, it relays messages from the brain to the vital organs of the body which in turn are supplied with oxygen, increased blood flow and fuel.

When these steps take place, the body’s “operating system” slows down, and operates at a lower tempo which means a reduction in stress and an increase in the immune system.

Listed below are the benefits of Reflexology:

  • Reduction in stress
  • Pain Reduction in stiff areas of the body
  • Improved circulation resulting in an increase in oxygen levels and nutrients delivered throughout the body
  • Detoxification
  • Improved organ and gland function
  • Improved immunity to disease and sickness
  • Deep feeling of relaxation and well-being.

Who performs a Reflexology service?

A trained body worker or Reflexologist can perform a reflexology session. A treatment can last anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes and the benefits can be enjoyed for weeks after your treatment.
