Do I really need regular facials

If you only visit your esthetician for a facial a couple of times a year, I've got some advice for you - save your money. Really. You're very unlikely to see real or lasting benefits from such sporadic treatments. For visible, long lasting results, you need a facial every four to six weeks if your skin is healthy, and more frequently if you have signs of acne, aging, dry/oily skin or hyper pigmentation.

Throughout the year, your skin's needs change dramatically because of weather, hormones, stress and other factors. Regular visits to your esthetician allow her to monitor your skin and ensure you're using the products that best meet your skin's needs at that time. They'll also allow for ongoing education and detection of skin care problems early, while they're still easy to treat.

The truth is, if you're only having a few facials a year, you'd probably be further ahead to invest that money in a quality home-care regimen. But you'll see more dramatic, long lasting effects if you combine that home-care routine with regular facials with your skin care therapist.
