Eye Cream, Why is it so important?
Not many people realize the importance of eye cream and think of it as just an up sell. It is actually one of the most important products you should be using at home along with a moisturizer and exfoliant.
A lot of us don’t realize that the skin around the eye is much thinner than the face, using a face cream will not penetrate in to the delicate area around the eye; the molecules are far too large. A lot of the time when clients resort to using their daily moisturizer around their eyes they end up with milia; commonly seen as little white bumps, these can be a nuisance and hard to extract.
But really, all we want to know are the benefits! So here they are:
- Combat fine lines and wrinkles
- Hydrate! Hydrate! Hydrate! Hydration is the most important, it helps prevent fine lines.
- Relieve puffiness and dark circles.
Depending on what you would like to address the following list provides useful ingredients to look for in your next eye cream.
Retinol / Vitamin A: If you want to combat those fine lines and wrinkles, turn to these key ingredients. They will help increase cell turnover revealing a smoother, brighter skin, and of course sparkling eyes! Try Dermalogica’s Age Smart Reversal Eye Complex.
Horse Chestnut: Battle puffy tired eyes with horse chestnut! Known for its decongesting and draining properties, eye creams containing this key ingredient will help smooth the eye area. Try Guinot’s Anti-Fatigue eye Gel
Vitamin K: A favourite among many as it helps lighten dark circles under the eyes specifically to do with blood pooling in the capillaries. Try B. Kamins Therapeutic Eye Cream.
Hylauronic Acid: An ingredient sought after to help hydrate the skin and plump fine lines and wrinkles. Give your skin a drink of water! Try Comfort Zone’s Eye Supreme, for face try Comfort Zone’s Hydramemory line offers great results with use of this key ingredient. A personal favourite of mine!
Vitamin C: Vitamin C is a hard ingredient to stabilize but when successfully used it has amazing benefits to the skin. It aids in reducing inflammation, lightening pigmentation and promotes collagen within the skin.
Peptides: Found in some of the best products peptides play an important role in offering great anti-aging results on the skin. They are small in size thus penetrate deep and easily into the delicate eye area. Peptides also stimulate the production of collagen! Try GM Collins Bota-Peptide Eye Contour Cream.
Be sure to add on an eye treatment the next time you get a facial. Professional eye treatments will hydrate, brighten and firm the eye area, reduce puffiness, dark circles and fine surface lines. At Le Petit Spa choose from the Valmont regenerating Eye Treatment, or the Phytomer Eye Treatment.
