Hylauronic Acid, Why is it so great?

Hylauronic acid moisturizes the skin from the inside out and it helps to plump as smooth fine lines and wrinkles in the process. The extracellular matrix is composed of hylauronic acid combing with collagen and elastin, this is also where water in the skin is held. As we all know the skin is the last place to receive any water we consume, so when our elastin is not bathed in water our skin gets dry and brittle, revealing the not so glamorous look of fine lines and wrinkly skin.  Because our body already produces hylauronic acid it is quickly absorbed into the skin which gives us beautiful plump glowing skin!

 

Comfort Zone has a line dedicated to this ingredient, Hydramemory. They have a daily moisturizer the Hydramemory 24hr cream or if you are an oiler skin you can use the Fluid. This will ensure you are reaping the benefits of the ingredients but not having anything that will leave a shine on your skin. If you are already dedicated to your current moisturizer then there is always the mask! Another favourite of mine it’s a great pick me up before an event. Just apply a medium layer for 10 – 15 minutes and voila! Beautiful skin! Be sure to exfoliate before using any mask otherwise the yummy ingredients won’t be able to penetrate through all that dead skin.

Another great product is Dermalogica’s Skin Hydrating Booster. You would use this as a serum, which makes as an easy addition to your regimen. Just throw on a little under your daily moisturizer and within a few days you will notice a big difference in how your skin looks and feels.

Hylauronic Acid is one of my favourite ingredients and definitely one I look for. There are a lot of products out there geared to dehydrated skin types; those with this specific ingredient will give you a more noticeable difference. It is especially great for those normal-oily skin types because it doesn’t leave an icky film on your skin, it absorbs right in! So next time your out shopping for a new moisturizer, ask for it by name!
