Top 3 Sunscreen Tips!
Sunscreen should be worn daily and its never to late to start! It will protect your skin from aging, burning and long term over exposure effects, skin cancer.
There are 2 types of sunscreens, physical and chemical. Physical sunscreens protect your skin by deflecting or blocking the sun's rays and contain Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide. Chemical sunscreens work by absorbing the sun's rays and contain a lengthy list of chemical ingredients.
Tip #1
Choose a sunscreen that will protect you from the sun's harmful UVA and UVB rays (usually stated on the packaging as Broad Spectrum).
UVA rays are the ones that age your skin and UVB are those that burn you and not to mention the UV radiation that causes skin cancer. So make sure you are completely protected!
Tip #2
As we all know the sun is our worst enemy when it comes to keeping our skin youthful and wrinkle free. Wearing a sunscreen everyday will really help prevent aging and it's proven! Remember it's never too late to start!
Tip #3
Apply your sunscreen at least 15 - 30 minutes before sun exposure.
It takes about 15 - 30 minutes for the chemical agents in sunscreens to work and provide your skin with protection. The SPF number noted on the packaging determines how many times longer you can stay in the sun without burning, than you could with out it. It also will only protect you from UVB rays, so make sure you always look for a broad spectrum sunscreen that will also protect you from UVA rays.
Remember to educate your family and friends as well. Help everyone make sunscreen part of their daily routine. The sooner you start the better! You will not only keep your skin young but also protect it from cancer.
