Battle of the Oil Glands!
Most people with oily skin types are constantly drying out their skin with harsh products or over exfoliation which creates more of a problem. Here are a few important things you can do to tame your skin:
1. As with any skin type basic care begins with cleansing. Make sure you cleanse both in the morning and evening. The best type of cleanser is a gel cleanser that contains anti-microbial ingredients to help kill bacteria and remove impurities. A favourite at the spa is Phytomer’s Oligopur cleansing gel. It offers a deep clean feeling and leaves no residue on the skin. Be sure to use products free of alcohol and do not use soap on the skin, these products are both drying and irritating to the skin.
2. Another very important tip for those with oily skin is to always remember to take off your makeup before going to bed. Leaving your makeup on will stop your skin from breathing properly and will result in blocked pores which end up turning into black heads and pimples. So no matter how tired you are be sure to remove your make-up!
3. Exfoliate! Make sure you don’t over do it though. Over exfoliating will strip your skin of its natural oils and cause your glands to over-compensate for the loss. If you like to scrub everyday try Dermalogica’s Daily Microfoliant. It is a gentle exfoliant which will help brighten your skin and relieve your urge to exfoliate daily!
4. Moisturizer is still important, even if you’re battling oily skin. Look for fluids or light base creams. These will help with any dehydration and with the right moisturizer; they can help tame oily t-zones.
Try Le Petit Spa’s DermalogicaCustom Facial or Deep Pore Facial for great results and to kick-start your skin.
